Christchurch Earth Quake

Well is been a hell of a week end with one of the largest earth quake happening here on Saturday morning about 4.30 am and measuring 7.1 on the Rickert scale.

Both Tracey and myself woke up and sat straight up in bed when the whole house started to shake, then the shaking got  really bad.

I told Tracey to get the girls and I would get Mathew, we both jumped out of bed and I ran into Mathew's room could not find him as he was under his covers, I then ripped them off and woke him grabbed him and ran then stood in the door way along with Tracey, Lauren (who Tracey was holding tight) and Emily.

Then the shaking was major it felt like some thing was going to give.  Once it stopped we had lost power there was no lights and it was pitch black, I went into my computer room tripping over some stuff that had fallen down and found one torch with flat batteries !

Tracey found another one in the cupboard then we went into the lounge and sat on the couch for a couple of minutes then the after shock came (5.1-5.2 on the Rickert scale) we all jumped into the door frames again and by this time Lauren was really scared.

Well all came back into the lounge and I got the douve cover wrapped up Tracey and the Kids warm, I went outside to check the house and nearly tripped over the foot path. This had come up about an inch and at the neighbour's it got a huge crack up about 3 inches or 100mm.

We are still getting after shocks even as I type this. Andrew

It was scary. It was hard to stand  up,when it was over we snuggie up .Lauren was so scared she  was sick .Dad went out side to check the house . we were all safe. After we all went to Amie and Alan's house they had power but no water.
